Custom Frameless Sliding Tub & Shower Enclosure in Park City, Utah
A recent project in Park City, Utah gave our team the opportunity to create a custom glass enclosure that combined the clean appearance of frameless shower glass with the practicality of a sliding door system.
The homeowner needed an enclosure designed specifically for a tub and shower configuration. Because space around the tub was limited, a traditional swinging glass door wasn’t the best option. Instead, we designed a custom bypass sliding enclosure that provides easy access to the shower without requiring additional clearance for a door to swing into the bathroom.
A Frameless Look Without a Swinging Door
One of the main goals of this Park City shower enclosure was maintaining a clean, high-end appearance while making the best use of the available space.
We used a bypass sliding system, allowing the glass panels to slide past one another rather than opening outward. This makes the system particularly useful for tub/shower combinations, smaller bathrooms, and layouts where a vanity, toilet, towel rack, or other fixture limits the amount of available door clearance.
The finished enclosure measures approximately 58 inches wide by 68 inches tall, giving the tub and shower area a substantial glass presence without making the bathroom feel closed off.
3/8″ Starphire Low-Iron Tempered Glass
For this project, we installed 3/8-inch Starphire low-iron tempered glass.
Standard clear glass naturally contains iron, which can give the edges—and sometimes the entire panel—a noticeable green tint. Low-iron glass dramatically reduces that coloration, creating a much clearer and more transparent appearance.
That extra clarity can make a major difference in bathrooms featuring carefully selected tile, stone, or other finishes. Instead of looking through slightly green-tinted glass, the homeowner gets an ultra-clear view of the shower and its surrounding finishes.
The 3/8-inch tempered glass also provides the strength and durability expected from a premium custom shower enclosure.
Brushed Bronze Barn-Rail Hardware
The hardware was an important part of tying the entire project together.
We paired the ultra-clear glass with brushed bronze barn-rail hardware and matching ladder-pull handles. The brushed bronze coordinates with the other bathroom fixtures while adding warmth and contrast against the clear glass.
Rather than the hardware feeling like a necessary component of the sliding system, it becomes part of the overall bathroom design.
The combination of:
- 3/8″ Starphire low-iron tempered glass
- Frameless-style bypass sliding system
- Brushed bronze barn-rail hardware
- Matching ladder-pull handles
- Approximately 58″ x 68″ custom dimensions
gave this Park City bathroom a polished, custom-built finish.
How Much Does a Custom Glass Tub & Shower Enclosure Cost in Park City?
The total price for this particular custom shower glass project was between $3,000 and $3,500.
It’s important to remember that custom shower enclosure pricing can vary considerably depending on the size of the opening, glass thickness, glass type, hardware finish, door configuration, installation requirements, and complexity of the bathroom.
For example, choosing premium low-iron glass such as Starphire and specialty finishes like brushed bronze can increase the cost compared with a basic clear-glass enclosure with standard hardware.
For this project, the homeowner was investing in more than simply a glass shower door. The enclosure was measured and configured specifically for the existing tub/shower area, with premium glass and hardware selected to complement the rest of the bathroom.
Custom Shower Glass for Park City Homes
Bathrooms in Park City range from compact remodels to large luxury primary suites, which means an off-the-shelf shower door isn’t always the best solution.
A custom shower enclosure allows the glass to be designed around the actual dimensions and layout of the bathroom. Homeowners can also choose the glass, hardware, handles, configuration, and finishes that work best with the rest of their design.
This project is a great example of what’s possible when a homeowner wants the openness of frameless shower glass but doesn’t have an ideal layout for a swinging door.
The bypass sliding system provided the functionality the space needed, while the Starphire low-iron glass and brushed bronze hardware delivered the high-end appearance the homeowner wanted.
